The marketing performance score
The performance score, out of 100, shows how well your marketing is working for your business, judged on the numbers Cora reads from your accounts every night. It is not a measure of you; it measures how your marketing is doing its job, and it rises as your campaigns improve and as you reach the objectives in your strategies.
- Your scores appear after your strategy session (session two), once Cora is reading figures from at least one ad platform.
- Read the trust score first: the performance score is only as good as the data under it.
Read your performance score
-
In the sidebar, click Dashboard, then Scores and data. The Performance score card is on the right of the top row.
1 The performance score sits beside the trust score. -
Read the number and the word beside the title: Strong from 80, Room to move from 60 to 79, and Needs work under 60.
2 The band in a word. 3 What is costing points now. -
Read the notes under What you can do to improve this. They are the three things costing you the most points right now.
What costs pointsPaying more for each customer than the most you told Cora you can afford; a platform, or your marketing as a whole, returning less than it costs; spend on campaigns that bought no sales; spend that rose while results stayed flat; spending below the usual range for your industry when growth is the goal; and no small brand campaign protecting your business name.
Lift your performance score
-
Work through your action plans. In the sidebar, click Projects and start the next step of each plan. The score moves when your nightly numbers do, not when a step is ticked.
-
Watch your quarter's objectives. Each of your strategies has a 90 day objective on a real number. The night Cora sees one reached, its points are added to your score.
An objective missed at the end of the quarterAn objective that is not reached by the end of the 90 days costs its points until the next quarter's objectives replace it.
What happens next
Cora works the score out again every night from your accounts, so it can move up or down from one day to the next. While your trust score is under 60 Cora treats this score as provisional, and in calls Cora says so. To see the strategies behind the objectives, read Projects and action plans.
Common questions
I finished a step. Why didn't the score change?
Nothing you mark changes the performance score directly. It follows your numbers, so a change you made shows once Cora reads its effect, usually over the following nights.
My sales are up. Why is the score still low?
The score weighs what each sale costs you, not only how many there are. Read the notes on the card: they say what is holding it back.
Why does the card have no number?
The scores start after your strategy session and need figures from at least one connected ad platform. Connect Google Ads or Meta in Connectors.
