Allow CoraVision to see your screen on a Mac

3 min Mac Updated 12 October 2026 · App 0.4.4

Cora can only see your screen once macOS gives CoraVision the Screen Recording permission. You allow it once, on the card CoraVision shows the first time it opens; CoraVision then restarts itself once, and the whole thing takes about two minutes.

Before you start

Allow Screen Recording

  1. On Welcome to CoraVision, next to Screen Recording, click Allow.

The Welcome to CoraVision card on a Mac with three rows, Screen Recording, Microphone and Accessibility, each with an Allow button; the Screen Recording row is outlined and an arrow points to its Allow button.
1 Screen Recording is the first of the three rows.
  2. A message says The next screen will ask you to restart CoraVision. This is normal. Only the app restarts, not your computer. Click Allow.

The restart message over the dimmed welcome card, saying the next screen will ask you to restart CoraVision and that this is normal, with Allow and Not now; the Allow button is outlined.
2 The restart is expected. Click Allow.
  3. macOS shows its own Screen Recording message. Click Open System Settings.

  4. In System Settings, under Privacy & Security, Screen & System Audio Recording, switch CoraVision on. On macOS 14 and earlier the list is called Screen Recording.

4 Switch CoraVision on in this list.
  5. CoraVision closes and reopens by itself, then shows the same card with Screen Recording marked Activated. If macOS offers Quit & Reopen first, click it; CoraVision reopens and carries on.

NoteOn macOS 15 and later, macOS may ask once more whether CoraVision can access your screen directly. Click Allow. macOS repeats this question now and then, and after some macOS updates.

Allow Accessibility

  1. Next to Accessibility, click Allow. Accessibility lets Cora find the buttons on your screen, so when Cora points at something the highlight lands on it.

  2. macOS asks whether CoraVision may control your computer using accessibility features. Click Open System Settings.

  3. In System Settings, under Privacy & Security, Accessibility, switch CoraVision on. The row on the card ticks itself within a couple of seconds.

Finish the card

  1. Allow the Microphone row too (see Allow the microphone and camera). When all three rows read Activated, the title changes to You're all set. Click Continue.

The card titled You're all set, with Screen Recording, Microphone and Accessibility all showing the green Activated pill; the Continue button is outlined.
9 Continue lights up once every row is Activated.

What happens next

You reach Have we met before?, where you create your account or log in. CoraVision does not show this card again on this Mac. Cora looks at your screen only during a session you start, and macOS shows its screen recording indicator while Cora can. See What Cora sees, and when.

Common questions

Why does CoraVision have to restart?

macOS switches Screen Recording on for an app only after the app reopens. CoraVision does this for you, once. Your computer does not restart.

The row says macOS has not applied it yet

CoraVision tries its own restart once. If Screen Recording is still not working after that, quit CoraVision completely (press Command and Q) and open it again. See CoraVision asks you to restart after a permission.

I clicked Not now, or closed the macOS message

Click the button on the row again. After the first try it reads Open System Settings and takes you straight to the right list, where you switch CoraVision on.

What if I switch a permission off later?

The next time CoraVision opens, it shows this card again with that row waiting, then takes you back to your dashboard once you allow it.
